Stars Yulia Volkova and Lena Katina of former pop duo Tatu on hand to present short film ‘Together Apart’

CANNES, 21st May 2014: ROSKINO and MOFILM Studio will today present a special screening of the Russian instalment of the popular Cupidity short film collection from Cornetto. TOGETHER APART is the latest in the acclaimed series of shorts centred around the universal theme of young love. The event takes place at The Russian Pavilion at Village International on May 21st at 3pm.

ROSKINO CEO Katya Mtsitouridze said: ‘TOGETHER APART is a welcome addition to the Cupidity series. The short perfectly showcases the incredible creativity and craft of Russian film, and its simple storyline seems symbolic of our nation’s filmmakers’ own efforts at reaching out to an international audience and sharing their passion with the world.’

Directed by Elena Kiper, Mark Nunneley, and Raul B Fernandez, TOGETHER APART tells the heart-stirring tale of a pair of childhood sweethearts struggling to negotiate a relationship when 3000 miles apart, and the cupids that enable their love to flourish. It stars Anna Niverova and Evgeny Dakot as the young leads, joined by Yulia Volkova and Lena Katina of chart-topping Russian pop act Tatu.

The former musical duo will be in attendance at the presentation to discuss their involvement in the project, having reunited to take on the roles of the cupids working to make life for the lovesick leads a little easier. Together with legendary Russian rapper Legalize and famous beat-boxer Mike Tompkins, their first single in years ‘Love In Every Moment’ was recorded especially for the film, becoming its official soundtrack.

Director Elena Kiper expressed her delight at their involvement: ‘The Olympics 2014 had become the starting point to new joint work. A few days before performing at the stadium in Sochi, the girls finally agreed to record a joint song for the movie TOGETHER APART. It was a historic moment - the first song in many years.’

Produced by MOFILM, the Cupidity collection of shorts has conquered the audience worldwide. The project has successfully launched in Turkey, the UK, China, Spain, Mexico, Brazil, Portugal, Greece, Indonesia, Australia, and now in Russia.
